William Sinclair Weiss - Certified Public Accountant

bill@wsweisscpa.com

William Weiss, best known as Bill, was born in Pasadena, California. He grew up in Pomona with his parents and 2 younger brothers. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 then attended Mt. San Antonio College, where he completed his Associate in Arts degree. After community college he went to the Cal Poly Pomona where he completed his bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. After college he worked ten years in public accounting at a local Firm and became a CPA in California in January, 1984. Eventually he moved to Williams AZ and worked for the Grand Canyon Railway, as well as running his own tax practice on the side. As he was working for the railway he moved to Flagstaff and ended up meeting his future wife in a church singles' group. Once married he unofficially adopted Sophia’s two daughters as his own, as they weren’t planning to have any more kids. To their surprise three years later, Savanna came along. After 14 years as Controller for Grand Canyon Railway, he made a job transition to being the Controller for a local mining/cinder business, Flagstaff Landscape Products, while continuing his tax practice on the side. After ten-year as Controller he was approached about buying the CPA practice of Mary Jo Heher in Flagstaff. Wanting to keep his family in the town they know and love, he decided to make the move to a full-time business owner. With a miracle he was able to buy the practice and merge it with his existing business. Now he runs his tax practice, WS Weiss CPA PC, full-time. He really enjoys making it a family business and loves having his youngest daughter and grandson working for him. He hopes to one day pass his business and knowledge to his daughter Savanna. When he’s not working, he loves to build his family tree on ancestry.com, playing strategy games, attending church and watching his daughter play/coach softball.

Savanna Weiss - Administrative Assistant & Notary Public

savanna@wsweisscpa.com

Administrative Assistant & Notary Public Savanna Michele Osorio Weiss (daughter of the CPA William) was born and raised in Flagstaff, along with her two sisters and many family members. Throughout her childhood she was very active in sports and loved going to church. She hasn’t had the most conventional schooling, due to chronic migraines, but she completed her GED at the age of 16 and moved immediately into working. She is a very fast learner and has many dreams of going to school in the future to earn her degree and become a CPA. She is hoping to continue her tax education, hopefully to the point that she could take over and run WS Weiss CPA PC. At her current position, she is working hard on learning everything she can and giving the best customer service possible. She hopes one day to run the business as well as her father does. When she’s not working she likes to spend her free time making homemade candy, crocheting blankets, and playing video games. She also really loves kids and leads the Nursery ministry at the church.

Valerie Wells - Bookkeeper

Bookkeeper, Valerie is the only staff member at WS Weiss CPA PC who is not a member of the Weiss family. Valerie was raised in the great sunflower state of Kansas. She moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1995 and retired from NAU after 20 years in 2016. In her spare time Valerie like to read, attend church and church activities, spend time with her sisters and nieces and nephews and travel. Valerie serves as the bookkeeper for WS Weiss CPA.

Sophia Weiss - Fill in Receptionist/Supplier/Translator

Fill in Receptionists/Supplier/Translator, Sophia Weiss was born in El Paso, Texas and then shortly after moved to Northern Arizona where she has spent the rest of her life. She met William in a church singles group and a year later they were married. She was so grateful that William accepted her two daughters, Olivia and Marissa, as his own and even though they had no plans for any other kids, Savanna was a welcomed blessing. Sophia has always been a working mom and has worked in many different positions in FUSD. Currently she works at Flagstaff High School as the attendance clerk as wells as working at WS Weiss CPA PC part-time. Throughout the year she makes sure we have all the supplies necessary to run the business and during tax season she helps with all the overflow paper work. When she’s not working she loves spending time with her grandchildren, going to movies, and planning the annual family camping trip.

Jonathan Matthew Valenzuela - General Office Duties

Random Task Doer Jonathan Valenzuela, commonly know as Jonny, is the oldest grandson of Bill and Sophia. He just completed 5th grade and is super excited to start middle school. He loves working for WS Weiss CPA PC. He does everything and anything we need him to. Whether its washing the windows or creating file labels, he always does it with a smile on his face. He is hoping one day to study engineering and become a mechanical engineer. When Jonny’s not working or attending school he loves to play football, video games, and building things with his father.
